Day 3: Wordpress vs. Blogger
This is the third day in building our online businesses. We have already found what we love and how we intend to implement this. Now it’s time to get started on the “how”. Today is the day we are going to decide the platform we use, whether it’s a website or a blog.
1. Website vs. Blog. If you want to sell your individual products you will either need to start a website or use an auction site like Ebay. Ebay is very easy to get started with, but there are listing fee’s etc. Starting a website takes a lot of time, and some technical knowledge, and it takes several months before anyone sees yours product. You may need to pay for help in designing a site, but it is worth it in the end. If you don’t need to use a shopping cart, you can probably just set up a blog.
2. There are two main blogging platforms that I will review. The first is Blogger. It is free to get started, and is fairly easy to use. However, you will not be able to use your own domain name, it will have a .blogspot.com after whatever name you choose. Occasionally blogger accounts are deleted without warning for violating some term of service, plus it seems like their sites experience a fair amount of down time. You also have less control over the customization of your blog. However, blogger is a great way to get started for someone who has no experience in technical issues, and it’s a way to see if blogging is right for you without spending any money. Wordpress is a blogging platform that you run on your host of choice, with your own domain name. I haven’t found wordpress anymore difficult than blogger honestly. I like that I’m building my own domain name, and that it can’t be deleted. However, I do have to pay for my hosting and domain name. Read here about my experiences with different hosting companies.
If you can’t decide whether you need a blogger blog, wordpress blog, or a website, post here and I’ll give you my opinion for free.

Oh Sarakastic, Thank-you for the dream
For the past 3 (THREE! gulp-giggle) hours, I’ve chuckled through The Experiments, wept for all the Snarkiness kind people must endure, studied how to blog Sarastyle, link-surfed, and dreamed… SOOO much more interesting than how my evening started out.
I feel grateful! A hearty thank you to Bloglines who swallowed my blog, (which put me in a snit) and sent my phalanges walking. A serendipitous search for ‘bloglines vs. wordpress’ brought me here!
Though I seriously doubt I’ll ever work my blog, (only had three sparse entries in seven months on my Bloglspot LOL), your honesty gave me joy and hope. I live for dreaming! The debilitating fatigue of Multiple Sclerosis envelopes my enthusiasm. That’s ok
Tonight, weaving vicariously through your adventures, I lived The Experiments and felt accomplished. So I’m signing off for now, changed, happy going nowhere tomorrow and joyfully tired from this journey tonight.
You have made a difference.
